Follow these steps at the end of the night to turn LRIS off:
  1. Shut down instrument.
    From the desktop menu, select
LRIS Control -> End of night shutdown.
    This will:
    1. Close the trapdoor.
    2. Stow all blue optics in the carousels.
    3. Turn off all lamps.
    4. Stop all LRIS GUI windows.
  2. MAGIQ Observer gui.
Quit any existing MAGIQ Observer gui.
  3. Stop other windows. Quit any existing FACSUM and TkRose windows by clicking and holding the right mouse button in the window's titlebar and releasing on the QUIT item.
  4. Update slitmask list. If this is not the last night of your run, you may need to update your slitmask list for the next night. Do not email your instructions to your support astronomer. Instead, simply update your instrument configuration using the observer configuration form. Be sure to validate and submit your updates after completing the form. NOTE: You must complete this step by 7:00am HST for the changes to take effect!
  5. Close VNC sessions. If this is not your last night, close the VNC windows. If this is your last night, shutdown the VNC servers by selecting from the background menu VNC->stop VNC servers.
  6. Start Data Backup Start backing up your data. Please see the Autobackup documentation for how to run autobackup.
  7. Log out
If data backups are complete, from the desktop menu, select the Exit... item to end your Xwindows session and log out of the workstation.
